if you end up having to pay it, collection companies are usually v willing to negotiate and give you a payment plan if you can't pay the whole amount at once. if you're in finland anything you can do to avoid losing your credit is worth it imo
i'll keep this in mind, i haven't ever had to deal with something like this so it's very foreign to me. like i get an occasional note from a collection company if i've forgotten to pay a medical bill but i always pay it immediately(/asap).
a payment plan does sound more reasonable for both parts (me and the company). i hope i can get someone to take the responsibility and pick up the bill but i'd rather sell an organ than lose my credit honestly. it's probably just as sucky in other countries but i only knows about how it affects your life in finland to not have credit, and i'd never ever make a conscious choice to let something as minor as 200-300€ ruin so many things for a period of time.

i think you were justified talking to the mom for sure. do everything you gotta do to protect yourself.
