LGBTQ+ people are more than allowed to reclaim and feel empowered by that word, it's our word and it's mine and lots of other LGBTQ+ people's identity.
Exactly.
The word ”queer” might even be the first word reclaimed and preffered by queer people. Some older generations find the word ”gay” way more offensive than queer - because gay is what was used as slur towards them. And at one point ”homo” was the worst word possible.
so basically the words take turns being the preferred one and the slur. It has always been this way.
and of course everyone has the right to prefer some word over others.
And everyone has the right to get offended over any of the words too.
But yea i just think it’s neat that we have so many words to choose from.
and everyone can freely pick the one they find most fitting.
Totally, I didn't intend to dismiss anyone who might feel hurt by the word! I just spoke from my perspective and personal opinion. <3
