for me, learning to develop my own style while still feeling fashionable was a lot about just copying other people until i figured out what i liked wearing and what suited me
not like straight up copying someone in your friend group, but just looking on pinterest and stuff like that and then try and find items that look like what you see there. im not a big fan of huge hauls bc i usually end up not liking a lot of the items, but if youre starting from scratch it could maybe make sense to go big to figure out what you like and then you can add small pieces here and there from then on
if you end up with items you dont like, you can always donate them or resell
You're right, I definetly need to find my own style in all the trends going around. I just haven't found it yet. I see alot of items I like, but then my second thought is hey; I could never wear that. Maybe I just need to try out more stuff, I usually HATE trying on clothes when shopping, but that might be something that could help out
that's my point tho, just buy the items, wear them out and figure out what you like and what you dont like (both in style and whats comfortable to you), then resell or donate the ones you dont. a lot of it is trial and error in the beginning and you might be surprised by something you thought you couldnt wear, turned out to look and feel great on you.
i wasnt saying you need to find your own style in all the trends rn bc that can be hard if you're just starting out, im just saying in order to become "fashionable" you basically just have to not be scared of buying the stuff you see on other people that you like (and are scared doesnt suit you) and just wear it. it takes a lot of getting used to when changing the clothes and style youre used to wearing and seeing yourself in, so a lot of it can just be that you need to spend some time in the new clothes to become comfortable in them. and dont put too much weight on
one item, find a selection of items and just buy and wear them all, then you figure out in that process which items you like and are comfortable in and which you dont and you can build on that
thriftshopping is good for buying in bulk bc its cheap and sustainable, but if you dont have good thrift stores, i would suggest maybe just looking where to get the styles you want online for cheap, although i know its unsustainable and harmful for the environment etc etc etc
sorry about the long message lmao, i had a hard time conveying exactly what i meant and i think you slightly misunderstood the intention of my first message
No sorry I totally get what you we're saying! I just couldn't put it into words like you did lol
