Imo intention matters a great deal, oftentimes I'm surprised by the strong reaction I get for stuff I thought was neutral/ a normal thing to say.
RIGHT
holy fuck
but like, does intention matter if regardless of intention you can't make friends because of being too...too much? lol
I think it matters when it comes to what kind of person you are, even though the outcome of a bad personality and shortcomings in interpersonal matters may have the same result. One could argue however that once you had that realization you should try to work on it.
Personally, I'm split when it comes to that stuff. On the one hand, you don't want to hurt people, thoughtless words and not conforming to social standards can hurt other people, on the other hand, we live in such a complicated society and sometimes people chose to be offended by things that don't really matter in the big picture.
It's complicated to stay true to yourself while simultaneously not pushing people you like away. If the whole social stuff doesn't come naturally to you, you will have to make some sacrifices to find a balance, at least in my experience.
It is exhausting to put out metaphorical fires when you weren't even aware of lighting a match. that hit me in a whole ass new way lol
