I think fatphobia vs skinnyphobia (?) Is kind of interesting tho. Because I find people more often to hate on fat (obese+) people (not overweight), but being fat seems in general more accepted to be healthy, and being underweight (anorexia problems etc, not naturally skinny, USUALLY) is seen as something bad and unhealthy. I know everyone loves to say "skinny is the standard, everyone loves skinny people, its generally accepted to be skinny etc etc" but its not accepted lol, and its not the standard and its not the ideal. The ideal is being a healthy weight with curves (hard for most people to achieve btw), not SKINNY.
lmfao not skinnyphobia. if it is so bad, why is that its never brought up in any other convo than when ppl are already discussing fatphobia?

also fatphobia is not only abt whats being viewed as "good", its about how nothing is catered to fat ppl - such as car seats, making their risks of dying in traffic, or the fact that medical issues in fat people is constantly overlooked leading to fat ppl recieving worse health care. its not about some shallow "oh they are prettier" metric, its about the fact that fat ppl die each year because doctors refuse to see them as more than fat ppl.
yeah this. skinnyphobia is not on the same level as fatphobia
I don't think so either. But weird how its mostly accepted to be on the bigger side IRL at least, but they get more hate. Skinny people tend to get less hate online from what I see, but every skinny skinny person I know irl has gotten a lot of shit for it, even tho they can't really gain weight no matter what they do. Also people irl seem to find skinny people sickly looking, while having (too much) meat on ur bones is good, but not too too much. Its kind of flipped online, weirdly. At the very least I don't get the "ur problems don't matter because I have it worse and also society loves skinny people bla bla" when society looks down on skinny people nowadays

The other issues like availability of things for obese people is a whole diff thing to me tbh, I'm not talking abt that at all rn. I think some stuff is fair tho, that u "can't" do stuff as a regular person if ur fx morbidly obese. Like shopping clothes at the same price as thinner people for the same item (more fabric bla bla bla), taking planes cus ur butt doesn't fit, roller coasters cus ur butt doesn't fit n u would probably die, etc etc. Mostly stuff that is hard and expensive to do for a small percentage of people. Obv should get the same health care etc tho, basic human stuff

I think w that its pretty comparable to just "pretty privilege", if ur pretty and healthy weight u will get the most attention, a fat person w a pretty face will get the same attention as an ugly thin person, if ur fat AND ugly then its like ,,, ok good luck. Lmao but yea, thats how I see it happen usually at least. Also depends of the shape of ur body and not just weight, u can be pretty overweight and still be viewed as attractive by the majority of people as long as you are curvy, but if ur just slightly overweight but built like a door, ppl will like u less. Complicted

i hate how its ok to tell skinny ppl to eat more, but if u tell fat ppl to eat less its offensive

but theres really many sides to the story

skinny ppl are mostly just ''worshipped'' online as some beauty standard, while irl they get just as much sh*t as fat ppl

(btw i dont see how the comments about smoking have anything to do with weight )
Yeah I agree w this, online seems more accepted to be skinny than irl. Also depends what ppl mean w skinny I guess but every obviously underweight person I've known has gotten shit for it, more than the ppl that were overweight

Lmao I'm an ugly thin person and I get 0 attention. I think ppl focus a lot on facial structure.

Yeah, it's just harder to be conventionally attractive if you're overweight because it changes your facial structure. Like, Lizzo, for example, one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen, and I'd say most people agree.  But it's not because or despite of her weight, it's because she has a conventionally attractive face. When someone's got extra fat in their face (like me, I'm talking about me here, this has happened to me after gaining weight), their cheekbones, jaw and nose will be less prominent and their eyes and lips will look smaller in comparison with the rest of their face, all of which is in complete opposition to western beauty standards so like. Yeah.

if we're using anecdotes as evidence to comment on systemic issues, i've been thin my whole life and i can, with a hand on my heart, say that ive never faced even an ounce of the hate and vitrol fatphobic ppl claim i should have. and even then, if i got rude comments it will never be as bad as actively dying but not getting the medical help i need because of my weight.

ive said it before, and i will say it again: if "skinnyphobia" is such a pressing matter, why is it never held as a conversation on its own? why is it that people only talk about it whenever fatphobia is brought up? why can it not hold its own weight? if you wanna talk about the cosmic injustice of fitting neatly into societal expectations, start your own god damn threads and conversations - because i've never in my life seen a thread that discusses """skinnyphobia""" on its own merits, unrelated to fatphobia.

I mean people judge smokers and heroin addicts too. The first commenter is clearly judging her and 69 people liked the comment.

If this was about a fat person or a skinny person I bet there would be similar comments and replies. Someone saying it's unhealthy, another person saying its okay for whatever reason.
