I've done a few things in the field. I've worked as a support worker for the elderly in a retirement setting, providing care to them. Now I'm doing private care working with a guy my age who has a spinal cord injury.
Do you enjoy your work?

It's not amazing pay but it seems so fulfilling
I didn't enjoy it too much when I was working in retirement but I really like working in private care with my client right now. And honestly, it pays so much better. About $8 more an hour than my previous job. I love the social aspect of the job, getting to talk to people and learning their stories.
Yeah I really dont think I'd enjoy working in a retirement home

It will be more fun in the group home I think. If i wasn't doing this i would want to work in home health as well. Both seem to pay better. Retirement homes seem like shit to work for... this is a non profit which is nice

Pretty sure I bombed the question on what would I do if a client wanted a candy bar that isnt allowed on a doctor ordered diet plan

I said I would ask what other things they like to eat and see if they can find a suitable alternative

Fuck that was a hars one
As someone who's hired a lot of people in her career, I think this was a great answer. Your interviewers aren't looking for a concrete answer for a real-life case, they want to see how you judge a situation and I think your solution shows you care about patients enough to take some time to make them both happy and healthy. It's a safe, middle of the way answer.
I also hope you mentioned your mom's condition too.

As you said, at the end of the day it's just an interview. The hiring process is long and tiring, and you can get rejected for the most arbitrary reasons. Also remember interviews are two-sided, you're evaluating them as much as they're evaluating you and the goal of the process is not to get a job, but to work in an environment that you can thrive in.

Let us know when you get an answer.

I did actually

Basically I just want to make sure they are eating what they are allowed to eat, but also feel human and know they're not alone? And that they have buying power? That they're making the choice, I'm not forcing anything, but were following the rules

Anyway I got an offer later that day. I just have to do a health screening and if I pass it I have the job.

Ty for your feedback as someone with hiring experience
