Women light candles on Shabbat to mark it's beginning. The leather straps are a prayer thing, you're supposed to do it every morning, it's connected to a black box that has Torah scrolls (is that what they're called in English Idk) that you put on your forehead and another one you put on your arm. It has something to do with the exodus from Egypt I think? And it's supposed to symbolize uhmm faith in God and submission to him or whatever I don't know I'm trans I never had a bar mitzvah😭 
Anyway it's called tefillin and it looks like this
