Check your drivers, it might not be your laptop tht's too old but the drivers that might be

if it doesn't meet this, might be the reason

try running it as the administrator as well,
try windowed mode
reinstalling (it will not delete the game if you bought it, you got the license and it is SO rare that it'll be revoked)
update drivers
try running it with antivirus turned off or flag it as okay

that's the usual and the things that I can think of rn
