We have two votes, one where you vote for a party and one for a person from your region.
It is popular to split the vote (voting for different parties with vote no1 and 2) because sometimes you like the work the candidate does for your region but don't like the party in general or just want to even it out a bit)
Each party has a list of candidates (each person gets a rank) , how many of that people on the list get to the Bundestag depends on the percentage of the total vote that party gets.
