of my parents house and into my own apartment if everything goes right. i have a tour scheduled for wednesday at 4pm est so i'll check back and update then.

pls wish me luck i'm gonna need it

this thread will probably be my own little diary just to help me get my thoughts out of the void and channel my anxiety into something bc i don't have a good support system so yay.

if anyone else lives on their own and rents a house/apartment u can tell me your journey and tell me stories of life alone bc i need a support system.

oooooo EXCITING!
i lived alone for a year, but unfortunately the people i was renting from moved and sold the house-
womp womp
if you can afford it its really nice!

my recommendations (based on what worked for me) are:

-set a day to clean. i did sundays and told my boss i couldnt work for religious reasons (untrue but it's illegal to deny or force you to disclose your religion in the usa)

-clean one room at a time. you have to do everything by yourself. i did floors in the worst room every week, and FULLY straightened one room every week.

- sort laundry. it extends the life of your clothes and lets you do it less often. my loads were/are shirts/hoodies, pants/jeans, delicates, towels, sheets, pet. i would always run out of jeans before underwear and not having a set day meant when i was out, i was out. it wasnt put-off-able

-CHECK GROCERY ADS. my favorites for good deals are food lion(you need a phone number with them), publix, and trader joes. look for clearance and specials. buy non perishables in bulk: cereal, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.

go to goodwill for furniture. especially in/near a college town. they're a good deal, even if you have to go to the next city over. just clean it- thoroughly

this is actually super helpful thank you sm for the advice!!

rn my paycheck covers rent and groceries and ive saved up a good amount in my bank account to be good for a bit. my grandma said she'd foot rent for a month or two just so i can keep saving up and then pay her back after that grace period. i love my gma and im super thankful for her doing that for me.

i just got the confirmation call for my appointment tomorrow and im so nervous!! idk how they choose which person to go with if multiple ppl apply for the same apartment.

i assume they ask questions like what's your job/income and questions about your lifestyle or if you have kids etc. but idk i've never done this before so i hope they like me

i have no kids i work at a law firm and i only have one dog (they're pet friendly thank goodness) and my bf is gonna be moving to a different state so i'll be living alone and not make any noise lol.

fingers crossed

tysm!! i really appreciate that <3<3

if this one doesn't work out i have two more to look at but one is not pet friendly which sucks but i know my parents will take good care of my dog until i can find a pet friendly apartment so it's not a Huge deal but i'm aiming for the pet friendly ones rn lol

im super nervous i just told my co worker/boss and she was super happy for me. she's letting me get off early so i can make it to the tour early (,:

it's a quiet area i think a lot of older people live there so it'll be perfect since i basically am an old myself

wish u good luck!!
moving out is imo a big part of becoming an adult ... like having to live alone really matures you lol.
I feel like i dont really wanna talk with people that never did their laundry on their own ... they gotta grow up first

i agree 100% i've been wanting to take this step for a few years now but am only able to do it now that i'm more financially stable.

the only reason i want to move urgently is cause of family abuse but i definitely think being on my own will help me a lot and give me a different perspective for a lot of things. i've never been alone my whole life so it's super scary but i'm really excited at the same time.

you got this, apartments love people who are quiet and keep to them selves, make sure they know you have a finncial lifeline if you need it.

and if theres multiplt applicants theyll usually chose the individual over a couple (couples are more likely to break the lease)
