no i think that it's not for them. i mean it doesnt hurt anyone else, but its a profound misunderstanding of what 'gender' is.

gender is identity, right? it's not good to consider you mental illness as identity, one should always work toward managing their symptoms. mental illness is not gender and if you think your mental illness is gender, maybe you're not going to get the help that you need.

but mental illness is a big part of some people's identity and 'getting help' isn't really as easy as it seems? there isn't always the perfect medication for it and therapy can help, but often times it doesn't. yea thats what i'm saying, you learn to cope. you don't say 'this is my gender'
 if you think your mental illness is gender, then you don't know what the word gender even means. 

i find this all very offensive.
