Where Art Thou?

Although I lack the talent to draw/sketch/paint, I'm always curious about the creative process.

For those of you who do:
When painting, do you sketch the picture first or simply start with paint to canvas?

Sketch first, but it depends what kinda paint and what you're going for

depends on whether it's traditional / digital
with traditional painting i rarely sketch, i start with big blobs of color to determine the placement of things on the canvas then slowly add details
digital, i usually sketch first (however the previous method would be better with this too)

i always start with solid shapes bc i cant sketch for shit, but this is only for digital art or painting.
as for paper, i do sketch, i can only sketch on paper lol

What type of paint do you use and why do you prefer it?

I dont paint but I have used liquid acrylics, so I guess that. Because it dries pretty fast , but you can get much better results with oil paint but it takes a long time

Other than designing, what types of things do you like to sketch?

sketching is easier by far because it doesn't require that much brain capacity (like seeing the whole picture and different color values etc) but by putting effort into it and working with the whole canvas the results are much better

OH AND YEAH for me sketching = messy lineart -> progressively cleaner lineart
but if working with shades and creating a "blurrier" version first is considered sketching, then yeah i do in both instances

really random stuff, i dont enjoy art thaaat much, i mostly do it for the aesthetic i guess? not for the meaning, though lately i've gotten more into the meaning of art rather than the final, rendered, aesthetic piece.

but nowadays i don't even touch a proper program, i just do stuff on ms paint (and draw either things/ppl i like :: check the bottom of my profile). as for irl sketching, same thing, not really meaningful, just pretty girls w pretty clothes lmfaoo

sorry for elaborating so much eee

I have! Created something pretty magical too, paint by numbers.

What kind of things do you sketch and do you often post them?
