it has to do with trauma and development. basically when kids are little, different psychological functions are fragmented and the personality hasn't integrated the functions yet. if a big trauma happens, a function can be split off from the rest and can just wind up being developed into a person. when you've first split as a child, stress in the future can cause new splits, even as an adult. it also can take years or even decades to figure out how many alters you have, aka how many times you actually split. it's a defense mechanism of survival
Yeah I know, just weird how everyones brain decided to do almost the same thing ! But I guess u can say that about a lot of stuff, but its interesting nonetheless
Isn't it possible to get help and work on integrating the different personalities so they are more working together as one too? Or at least kind of work them together so there is less
Idk if that is true but I have heard abt it
yeah it's a bit odd, but i mean our genes are mostly the same stuff so? like the difference in genes isn't that big from person to person. and yeah, integration is a thing! to for example integrate a little (child alter) you first have to make them grow to the age of the host and then treat their issues and the issue that made them so they're not "necessary" for survival anymore, and then they can integrate. i don't feel safe trying to integrate anyone yet.
