I just don't understand why people ask for "free speech" when it comes, in this case, to make offensive and hurtful jokes about serious episodes of history.
I believe they really aren't asking for free speech, but rather to not get criticized for doing offensive shit and expect everyone to accept it and shut up
People tend to laugh about their own tragedies, it's human nature. It's fine as long as it's not at the expense of the suffering of other people.
What would you consider an okay-joke about Holocaust, then?

Him being a really known person and saying *jokes* like that is already wrong enough. It just gives people who discriminate others for their sex, religion, race, sexuality or whatever an escape goat for when they make this "jokes". Because it makes them think "So if this person jokes about this, then it's okay for me to joke about it too".

Well if people make jokes about you as an individual and you're okay with it, there's nothing I can say about it because it's your choice. But it's not funny to make fat jokes in general, or any joke that can be discriminating to people
