triggering selfies

wondering what the vp verdict is on that

what do you think of people at higher (or usually) lower weights, or people with self harm scars being told to put trigger warnings on their selfies, or being told not to post selfies at all?

when is it okay/not okay to ask for a trigger warning?
is it even okay at all?
should people with visible eating disorders refrain from posting selfies? why/why not?

As long as they're not promoting eating disorders or self harm as well.
It's also hard to ask that of someone currently going through those issues considering that usually people aren't fully aware that they're in bad shape.

If it's triggering to someone they don't have to follow the person. I'm sure there's ways to also hide those types of posts on some platforms as well.

Also, what good does a TW do if you instantly see the image when scrolling through?

i think there's not 1 right answer for this, it's a very personal n emotional issue for people and i don't think any choice here is clearly right or wrong

i kinda think fresh wounds should not be shown but also, someone i follow n love did post a selfie with a fresh wound a while ago and i didn't see anyone else having a problem with it... and even i felt kind of ok with it, like it's kind of nice to see that you can have struggles and still be hot & happy & living ur life n being yourself openly. and that struggling with self harm is not something to be ashamed of

this is an amusing thought to me though
i wonder who that would be for you know? people with eating disorders who would get triggered because their worst fear is looking like me? hmm

yeah i mean i think you have to have some kind of disorder/problem to insist on people using trigger warnings on their selfies in the first place. like mentally healthy people aren't triggered by the way other people look is what i mean

If I'm out and about
and I see someone who looks that way
I don't walk up and ask, "hey, could you post some type of warning before I see you?"

maybe if you're actively trying to show it off but even then.. not rly, i mean you wouldn't trigger warn anyone before rolling up your sleeves or whatever either, it's not your responsibility if people are uncomfortable seing that. scars that is, open wounds are a different story.
and for weight no, if people can't handle seing a skinny person or heavy etc person the problem is with them, we can't be wrapping everything in blankets

same

But also the persons purpose for the selfie i feel is important; ive seen people (mostly when it comes to eating disorder) sometimes take selfies where they purposely reveal their body.
Im mainly talking about severe cases of underweight can be quite triggering for some because it can make it feel competitive.
