i wish i were better at saving money when i first startet uni and moved out.
Do yourself a favor and save as much as you can, buy various food of cheapest brand etc. There's a lot of good economical advice on budgeting etc on youtube.

I lived off pay check to paycheck without saving anything which is very dumb - all of a sudden will something happend which you wish you had saved up money for. Wisedomsteeth hurt? gotta use money on dentist. Electrinics (laptop, phone etc) not working? gotta buy new one.

Good luck with college by the way!

I say sit down and take the time to make a budget. Rent, food, transport, savings, monthly expenses and spending money.

You can save money and live for practically nothing, if you’re disciplined. I have a super low food costs, cause I generally don’t order fastfood or eat out, and I shop sales. I still eat good! Plus this helps me not live from paycheck to paycheck. Don’t Impulse buy. Teach yourself to really evaluate if you need whatever thing you are about to buy. Plus be better at looking for a second hand option before buying from new. This will often save you a lot of money.
Never buy anything you can’t really afford. Nor should you buy anything and pay it later. Don’t take loans unless it’s necessary and you’ve done your research.

Dont stress. Find an evening “thing” that makes you happy to wind down. I, for example, drink Christmas tea year round in the evening if I’ve had a hard days cause it makes me happy!(I don’t drink it every night). Health trumps grades. Do your best, then trust that it’s enough

Try to visit family(if they’re not miserable assholes) every week or every other week. Family is important and they help keep you grounded. Plus call your mom often.

Choose experiences over material things. Buy a new tv, or go skydiving with your friends? Go skydiving. You remember experiences, and will look back on them with glee

I’ll add more if I remember anymore

Don't do drugs with people you don't trust, always have some savings because there is always some bill coming up when you don't expect this, try to not fall back on your assignments, start to study for exams at least 4 weeks before they happen, look for jobs very early on because it is hard to get one in student towns, don't spend too much money on alcohol, candy, anything that costs much and is gone fast, buy reliable tech not the fanciest one, establish a relationship to older students so you'll have someone to ask if you don't know what to do,....

Trust your feelings, if someone seems nice but you have a bad feeling about them, trust that and don't do anything you don't feel comfortable with.

Take school seriously and dont slack off or else ur future self will have to pick up the pieces and u will regret not getting ur schooling done while u were younger. But dont overwork urself or stress too much about it, cuz while its annoying to fall behind on ur education u can always pick it back up in the future. Prioritize ur mental health, be kind to urself. Keep an open mind and interact with ppl that have different opinions and backgrounds than u do, never let anyone disrespect u.

I'm on my fourth year of university, doing my master studies right now in industrial management, becoming a civil engineer.

I would recommend to be active in club or chapter activities! I have learnt so much from it and made so many friends. No matter how hard a subject is, your friends will be there to help you.
