Poll: have u ever had a lucid dream?
lucid dreaming

i was watching this youtuber and she mentioned seeing a really vivid/lucid dream and that made me curious about how to have those

I've had many vivid dreams, more tho when I was younger, but I've never been able to be certain about being in a dream while dreaming or "making sure" i'm dreaming (like counting fingers in a dream)

has anyone taught themselves to lucid dream because I hear that's possible and I want to be able to do that

it's something I'm capable of doing but I don't do it as often anymore because I found that I would wake up feeling rather drained.

no clue how I picked up the skill or how to explain it to anyone else,, its just something I can.. do? aha

Since I was little I understood when I was dreaming sometimes when it was common or repeating dreams. I knew I had experienced that dream before. Usually I was having nightmares, so I made myself wake up to avoid being hurt or killed. I do this even today, when I have a scary dream and want to wake up to avoid it. Please tell me if anybody else does this - I have not met a person with this experience, lolol.

I am often aware that I am in a dream, but I don't get to "control" my dream when I try to. I have tried "tests" to confirm that I am dreaming, so that I could fly or change the dream - but my "dream-self" (as I call it when I'm in a dream) is pretty smart. They will not make it easy to confirm that I am dreaming. I learned you could "poke" in the middle of your hand while dreaming (by also doing it when you are awake), so when I lucid dreamed I could test it. The finger did not go "through" my hand or something else weird, but it felt real and hurt. Therefore I could not "confirm" that I was dreaming, even though I knew it.

Sometimes when I have tried to change the dream, or "keep a dream going" because I am curious what happens after that - it has turned into sleep paralysis. Then the dream gets "dark", and I can't see anything. It gets hard to wake up. I try to speak or scream, but nothing comes out - and it hurts (it happend once in my arm, and once in my stomach). I end up panicing, because it is scary.

[This happend a few years ago for a short period, and luckily is not a common happening. ]
