actually i'm not even sure if mine are tics to be specific, they started as accidentally  "copycatting" my roommate with tourette, but i haven't been in touch with her in years and they still manifest under stress etc. sorry for going off topic, i just sometimes feel like it's an invalid symptom based on how it started :/
tics often get triggered (not sure what word to use in here but i tried) by other tics. Like if you see/hear someone having tics, you'll start having yours as well, so I wouldn't see yours as invalid! Wouldn't be surprised if that's how many people started having their tics.
that makes sense, i've been thinking about something like this too but never bothered to research it. i kinda linked the phenomenon to the brains mirror cells on my own, maybe it wasn't that far of a reach from the actual mechanism that makes my brain go HM HMM out loudÂ
