I hope your tics will get better! Depending on your age they can even go away completely. I've had mine for 15 years and although now they're worse, a few years back I had a quite long period of them being very mild. And if they don't go away, you'll probably get used to them at some point. The best help for me is not thinking about them and focusing on something else. I think stimming helps a bit as well!

tics are much more common than people think and often appear under stress etc. They usually start in childhood or teens and go away when getting older. And not everyone who has tics has tourettes! My tics are probably caused by autism and I've never been suspected of having tourettes

i've noticed starting to have these sort of humming-like vocal tics again and they're kinda hard to deal with sometimes too, i hope it doesn't feel as bad for you as i imagine it might.

actually i'm not even sure if mine are tics to be specific, they started as accidentally  "copycatting" my roommate with tourette, but i haven't been in touch with her in years and they still manifest under stress etc. sorry for going off topic, i just sometimes feel like it's an invalid symptom based on how it started :/

tics often get triggered (not sure what word to use in here but i tried) by other tics. Like if you see/hear someone having tics, you'll start having yours as well, so I wouldn't see yours as invalid! Wouldn't be surprised if that's how many people started having their tics.

that makes sense, i've been thinking about something like this too but never bothered to research it. i kinda linked the phenomenon to the brains mirror cells on my own, maybe it wasn't that far of a reach from the actual mechanism that makes my brain go HM HMM out loud

i hadn't even thought about this in years since my childhood is just a few hazy memories for me, but my sister had some kinda tics too as a kid, and they were pretty considerable so people actually noticed them, but i just remembered that i struggled with several facial tics, slight but v determined finger movements etc. i think nobody just paid attention to them back then and i forgot having them. then i was diagnosed with ocd at some point so idk what makes it differ from ocd symptom/tic

This makes me think of what I have.. I can't tell if its tics or just a OCD thing since I have been doing the same thing over and over since I was like very young.

Hope it'll get better for u tho.
