Yeah that makes sense I guess, I asked because in other forums there were like "hang out" threads which are like more or less permanent threads that you can just chat in instead of being a question and then it's answered and that is it. Very interesting I've never been on a forum that has such fleeting threads haha

i feel like most threads here end up getting derailed and becoming chat threads

also i feel like chat threads arise on other sites because the user base is so large so it's useful to have one dedicated place to keep track of the people you usually talk to -- here the user base is so small that that's kind of pointless, like everyone can be in every thread without it being overwhelming

even on small sites ive seen these hangout threads. trisphee's forum is basically all hangout threads and they literally have like twenty users total.
