My moms getting her money

So my gran sent a message saying she found the money in the couch cushion and my mom would get it soon

She sent $1000 in cash yesterday (my mom lacks a bank account 4 financial reasons) and will money order her the rest 

I got a call from a lady from adult protective services, she drove to my moms apartment to have a conference 

My gran has filed my mom as a dependent on her taxes for two years which is apparently illegal, she will be trying to help my mom get her stimulus money and will have a colleague come to my grans home to ensure she doesnt claim her again 

My gran said that she was at the casino visiting a friend so I need to stop making accusations lol w/e 

Social worker is suspicious she has used my moms stimulus to pay her back and will look into it

Its cuz my mom did live with her for awhile. I didnt think anything of it. Just thought it was a way for my gran to make extra money w/o it affecting my mom. It did effect her tho cuz she didnt get her stimulus. Also my naive ass didnt realize it's illegal, especially because she paid partial rent at the time (my gran claims she didn't.) 

The real shady part tho is the dependent ban was lifted so my mom should be receiving her stimulus but didnt. He case worker is wondering if my gran somehow illegally pocketed it or something, especially cuz she claimed she only got $300 back cuz the gov garnished her check  for taxes she owes 

Idk it also sounds like bs to me, and it's their job to investigate that

Thank my therapist. I told her what happened and she recommended I call the adult protective services. I would of never know about this program otherwise. 

At the time my mom was in a psychosis so she was terrified the investigation would get her in trouble (she was on drug probation and has done sex work, tho that isnt relevant here). The case worker visited her and my mom called me to tell me shes happy I called I'm glad 

They're helping her get a bank account and get on ssi sooner it's a blessing

Well Heather (the case worker) is aware of this situation, and is willing to help me move out if I need it, and they're also working on a plan to get her a cheaper place if she needs it too 

Cuz shes been trying to manipulate me into having her stay w/ me and my roomie (I'm in my twenties wtf) and even heather is like "this is bs she can figure it out independently" 

I also can have places to stay temporarily if needed, asked family and friends. I'm glad I bought my car lol.
