do not use tobacco as a pesticide on tomatoes or peppers for risk of spreading Tobacco Mosaic Virus
you should also not work with these plants if you are a smoker until you have thoroughly cleaned your hands 

your home garden is probably less of an issue, but when I worked on a farm I wasn't allowed to work with tomato plants because I was a smoker.
