I live very close to a military facility that houses over 500 tons of nerve gas, disposal efforts have begun but take time. They're basically doing controlled explosions in blast chambers because the gas has settled into solids.
anyways
because it's housed here, every year we get this "apocalypse calendar" as we like to call it, that's a calendar with beautiful nature images, but also like, emergency evacuation information in case there's a gas leak in town.
Every few years they'll send these emergency boxes that come with huge rolls of thick, heavy plastic, duct tape, a pair of shears, and a DVD no one ever watches with instructions.
The idea, is that if there is a gas leak, we're to tape our doors and windows up with this thick plastic.
But no one here is daft enough to believe it'd actually protect us
so when the kits arrived, suddenly, EVERYONE HAD PLASTIC COLD FRAMES IN THEIR GARDEN LOL
like the army sent us emergency kits and everyone saw it and went "OMG GARDEN SUPPLIES, FUCK YEAH!"
I just wanted to share that because it's one of those things that sometimes I forget isn't normal for everyone and those are the most fun things to share lol
