Earth Day is basically the global day of bringing awareness to the importance of our earth. It started in 1970. It's more of activism day tbh, like it shares information on what you can do, host events and so on. The events last for 3 days but we celebrate today as the Earth Day. There are new themes every year and this year is Restore Our Planet (as a response to covid, among others), but earlier there have been like plastic pollution and such, so it is whatever is popular, in a sense.
