I think a better explanation: 
we have 2 ingredients i have to get
1 ingredient is a few bucks cheaper than ingredient 2 
he thought we would share and buy one each and asked if he could buy ingredient 1 specifically cus he was low on cash

and i just told him that he didn't hav to worry cus i'll get it but i'm still kind of put off by the pettiness 

AND i get that he's a student but like... so am I and I was like would never make such comment it feels so unneccessary cus we just got paid the same amount u know idk idk idk

am i overreacting??? Maybe

no i think you misunderstood !! there's like 2 things required hence is why i asked him like what exact type of stuff he needs so i don't get the wrong foods and he was like we can share can i buy the cheapest thing of the two needed right


but yeah ig $3 might make a difference to him but idk just personally i'd rather live off of noodles than ask to buy the cheapest part of the thing we'd make BUT  i'd rather just have him not say anything and let me buy it cus this weirded me out too much
