What musical instrument??

Since I was a kid I always wanted to give music a try, but I was never allowed.
As I grew older and my senses of love and interest are dying, I see the possibility of me going for it.
Although I've lost my opportunity of learning the language and understanding of music -the one that a kid can get- I want to see if there is any place for me in the world of music and if I can find anything of calm in it in me.

During the times I had some choices of my own, as what kind of music I should go for and what instruments, but I either see problems and things I don't want, or I'm not sure.

I've come to you guys, asking for help now.

For some information now:
I was mostly thinking about harp, but some things really made me feel off about it and after them I'm so unsure about the rest of the instruments.
-It's too big, and I like to be able to carry my instrument with me, esp for the fact that my university is in a another city and I possibly am going there in future months.
-Finding a good teacher and tutor for it. Some say it's the most important thing and some say not that really. I may find some things online, but well, for instance, harp, there are not much really.
-Well the price shouldn't be ignored, esp if I'm going to have some changes of music or sth!!
-I mostly liked harp, cause I wanted sth to be soothing and well with the energy the harp has, but also be able to go off with playing different styles with it. Which recently I'm understanding that this idea is not the most happenable with harp. Cause for one, I mostly like playing rock music if possible.
-I also want to be able to play music from my own country style -I mean it'd be a big positive point-, so I am also thinking about some of my national instruments (I guess the word national is a bit off, but I guess you know what I mean). You may not have heard of them, but, I'm from Iran, talking about Persian music.

Some other things I got to consider, are like:
-I don't have the most soundproof room to me, so things like drums, may not be the best of the choices.
-I rather not go for the most popular instruments. Like picking a guitar as every boy and girl and all does and just some just-for-nothing music. I say this, cause for practicing it and finding people related I will keep on hitting such.
-I don't hate working with other people, but it'd be nice if both alone and in group could work out.
-Another good thing is the bigger range of styles and sounds I could play. Though Base guitar seems really nice to me, I feel like not much you can do with it.
-Oh! Btw, I don't have perrrfect lungs so none of that! kkk

And do not tell me to go for sth you like, cause as I mentioned, this being right here has got no interest really, just trying to find if there's anything I can actually spend my life with. Finding sth that I can feel a little belonged to. And I know for one, that music helps with a lot of things, a lot of thing I've lost during my days, so it's not just a let's try it.

I might add to this if anything else came to my mind.

When I was younger I wanted to learn to play the harp for the same reasons as you, but it was too big and expensive etc. so I turned to a different instrument. The instrument I nowadays play is this finnish instrument called kantele, it has 5, 11 or 15 (or even more) strings depending on your preference and skill level. It reminds me of harp a lot and that’s part of the reason why I started playing it. I don’t know if it’s available where you live, but this is for sure an instrument that meets your listed criteria pretty well.

This is what it looks like

I'm somehow thinking on that as well!

Why not try out a different instrument
each month until you find “the one”?

Not sure if renting instruments
is an option where you reside tho🤷🏾‍♀️
