i've played a lil' now and then since i was a kid and i enjoy it! my class participated in "the chess four" in fourth grade, so like, a national chess competition haha, it was fun !!
though, i feel like, when you've learned how it works and all, it's not the easiest to access information about how to get better in a fun way. i remember in fourth grade that we had these, retired old men teaching us different openings and stuff (think they were in the local chess club or smth) and i wish i could get the same guidance today haha
it's not the same to google ur way around and therefore i just don't do it hah
It does feel a bit isolating to study it on your own, which is why i hope to find some kind of chess club that have meetings and such when things open up again

I'm glad you were introduced to it as a child, since it's a good way to introduce planning skills ! Youtube and twitch has a few awesome chess players, such as Hikaru Nakamura. Just trying to follow his thought process is hard, but I did learn some stuff from him lol
Once I get better I might get the courage to play against you maybe
