I think my boss is afraid of me or something

honestly, like my coworkers keep getting written up for weird, nitpicky minor shit, whereas I'm going on loud anticapitalistic rants shitting all over the company and frequently losing my temper.

not like
trying to condone my behavior, like I see psychs and take meds and all that fun stuff to try and get my outbursts under control
but I've been fired for far less
and he's been hard as fuck on my younger coworkers who really don't deserve it (like damn, their brains ain't even fully developed yet, cut them some slack)

anyways yeah
is it fear? respect?
the world may never know

I agree
& like it puts me in a really fucking weird position because I  don't want nor deserve special treatment, I don't want my coworkers to silently resent me for shit I had no say in.

^ I reckon cos you're not one of the younger lot ur already thought of as more reliable than they are like they're much more likely to blow off a shift/the job altogether than u would be I imagine, long-term you're more likely to stay than they are - all that sorta stuff mby thinking more big picture

also forgot to say if the shift leads say ur good like !!! believe it !!! they wouldn't blow smoke up your ass for no reason this is for sure a huge part of why you don't get called out lol

I'm sooo work-oriented when at work like. a total try hard honestly but there was a period of about a year where if I'd wanted to I probably could have gotten away with almost anything purely because they wouldn't have been able to afford getting rid of me

Weird because I'm literally the one telling kids (when they're being treated unfairly as I just described) "you can find any place to pay you like shit and treat you like shit, don't sweat it, don't get upset at criticism and write ups, just be the employee they deserve and no more" which is exactly what I do every day.

but what's staff retention like, is there a huge turnover with the younger crowd?? some managers seem to fall into this state of not making any effort or really caring one way or another if they stay or leave beyond potential staffing issues as a result because they're not expecting them to stay/perform well and just ending up being super hypercritical and causing the issue in the first place

my 20 y/o coworker got a write up as a no-call-no-show despite having text messages from the ASM telling her to take a mental health day. She didn't know there was more to the process than that. And she didn't get any warning at all - that's what I mean about cut these kiddos some slack. They've never done this before!

same girl got written up for being late - except what happened is she came to work, failed the mandatory covid check (passed out the day before) and the shift in charge told her to leave, and get a covid test before coming to work - so obviously she was "late" clocking in, because they told her to leave and come back. make it make sense.

when I say the treatment is unfair/inconsistent this is what I mean.

theres now a 4-hour training on my schedule that I dunno what it's for - and, I had an extra shift added on a week where I was given virtually no hours.

they had this girl drive all the way to work for her shift at 5am to fire her on the spot the day after her sister tried to kill herself.

just woke up to the texts from the kid

okay but like
corporations always act like "We love and support our disabled workers!" til they actually have some fucking disabled workers, mentally or physically, and then they don't adjust their expectations to meet those disabilities and that's not how the fuck this works

Waste a gas but at least
they didn’t allow her to work
an entire shift only to let her know
at the end of it that her services
are no longer needed.
That would piss me off even more
