completely agree with this. anyone ive ever seen say theyre "brutally honest" has just been rude and honestly kind of annoying.

My roommate was the type to say "I'm brutally honest."
In reality it was just an excuse for her to say things like "Your room is an ugly mess!" (I have autism and kept my room a particular way due to sensory issues. So a lot of plushies, medication in specific spots, etc etc.) or my favorite thing for her to say: "Your medication is making you fat."

I genuinely believe it's an excuse to be rude without a filter, because they just don't want to learn to treat people with kindness.

With that said, I honestly think brutal honesty is rude. Even if people are directly asking you for an opinion, I still think the classy thing to do, is to be constructive and give some feedback that doesn't make people feel like shit afterwards.
