when youre indulging in things like tv series and novels what kind of things do you naturally gravitate towards

in my case i need good relationship dynamics between characters, so i watch and read a looooot of romance crap its very shameful  it really doesnt have to be romance though but romance just means that ur guaranteed a deep 1-1 dynamic

Yeah I’m always very much for character driven stuff, n I think that’s why media with big fandoms n stuff has usually appealed to me, cause if you take the same characters and relationships and insert them in different settings and stories and they still hold up then that’s probably media I’m gonna like

also if it’s funny lol

1800s-1950s era (just made that era up but yeah, when the series/movie takes place in that time.)) so, the knick, pride and prejudice, downton abbey, imitation game, anna karenina, etc.

Decent writing.
Bad dialogue is the fastest way to make me stop watching/reading a thing.
I'm not a big fan of plot driven media where  characterization of the protagonist falls short.
Even better when the supporting characters are fully fleshed out and do more than just further the plot and help the protagonist nagigate through the plot.

Everything cozy or comforting. I hate action, everything with war and also a lot of other uncomfy stuff. I'm a big empath unfortunately, so if I can evade watching things with bad stuff I usually will.

For novels I like fantasy and romance, and don't mind conflict or negative things as much.

nearly anything fantasy - elemental powers, secret societies, good world-building, relatable characters, dystopia for sure. But not a fan w a lot of the netflix stuff where the fillers are out and there's too little time to properly develope characters and such, like that make so many shows stressfull to watch. NEarly anything that's a YA book adaption is a yes from me. Doesn't matter if it "sucks", it's a yes. It's totally such a comfort genre to me.

or like in contemporary, some crime, mr. robot vibes, survival plots, things built on games like jumanji or ready player or thg. just bc i rly love that extra layer of reality to it. i also like the hartstopper vibe of heartwearming series, those are sooooooo wholesome, like a soft blanket and cheesy. but u get like that rly strong connection to the characters there so it's very nice.

or some historical ones, mostly reign and outlander at this point tbh so maybe not so much historical anymore. but yeah historical for me is mostly drama  i guess, but u rly need some good ass characters and plots and not too much romance, or things in the downtown abby vibe. that's not for me. strong female characters is ofc a yes from me but also soft males okay like yespls.

but none of these can be over-the-top action and shooting and exploding stuff, no car racing or dumb ass toxic characters that i'd rather just die. I sorta keep skipping a lot of war scenes atm just bc I find them exhausting but 1-1 battles are much better. no british humor either, sry but it's bad.

idk well written characters and story i guess. if something is cheap or tacky, i usually dont watch it, unless it's like REALLY cheap and tacky to the point where it's kinda funny like riverdale. also a continuous story. i hated tv shows in the 2000s bc it was just new story every episode and i didnt like that (yes i get that it was like that bc it was made for tv back then). but idk really, it really depends bc i'll watch almost anything at this point but im still at the same time very picky

i dont read
