i got myself in a meeessss

in october last year I moved to the capital city to study. finding an affordable flat was a PAIN but I got an offer from one of my hs professors to live in her studio flat for a crazy cheap price. at that time, I was looking to share a flat with a friend so we moved in together.

the winter sucked big time because we were stuck in the flat most of the time, with classes being online and weather being shit. and my mental health was never worse and I started despising how messy my roommate was so in February I moved back home. she stayed in the flat, paying half the rent, with a promise that I can move back in at any time and that she understands my struggles.

fast forward a couple months -- I finally feel stable enough to move and start anew and get a job so I ask her if the offer still stands and she says no.

and now... I am feeling very angry aha : DD
so I did what I would never dare to do and messaged my professor, the landlord. and I am so going to regret that in the morning ! but yes. I am upset ! pls tell me how dumb I am

no aa should've been clearer on that part
they didn't have her paying the whole rent because they also thought I would be returning to the flat in a couple of months

If this was set up at the time you left
why would you need to ask if you can return?
sorry but it doesn’t make sense

i don’t understand the anger
needed someone to say this lol i am so very over the place

the sole reason for my anger is -- I was the one who found the flat and who was in charge of everything ? and the fact that she said I can come back and is now changing her mind and being rude about the whole situation.

Polite doesn’t have anything
to do with it tho, especially if this was set up
at the time you left.

If nothing was written/no contract
regardless if you found the place
technically, you left your roomie
holding the bag..you just got lucky
that your landlord felt sympathy
and only charged half during your absence.
Yes, she went back on her word
but the roomie doesn’t owe you anything.

She doesn't owe you anything but who she is for just saying no?
it's not her place lol and ultimately the professor's decision

If she promised you it'll b okay to come back when she's JUST paying half and now did not keep the promise, that's a shit friend

right ... i talked to the prof just now and she said that she can't really kick her out but is willing to talk to her. and i'd rather not have the landlords involved so I said that I'll talk to her myself. so I messaged her and now I wait ( :

I feel like a child when saying oh she's a shit friend but truly,, she is

Even with Glowed in the house
roomie would still pay half.
But, if there’s utilities/electricity etc
seems like a extra expense
for the roomie if  she had
to cover the cost alone.

I get that it’s a friend
but it also seems a little selfish
to expect someone to pause
just because one has to
check out for a few months.
I think the friend should have
been a little more clear
and asked for a definite date of return.
Either way, hope things work out
although I’d feel awkward as hell

finances not considered -- the flat isn't big so the costs are minimal and she can definitely afford it. her family is loaded and i don't want it to come off as me leaving her all stranded and whatnot? it was a thoroughly discussed matter

i do thank you for your points though !! i really needed someone to give me counterarguments here
