I was watching a woman go dumpster diving with her husband on youtube and I kinda want to too but apparently it's illegal in my state :/

think it's theoretically count as stealing no matter where. Some places just don't care as much and sometimes u take a chance.

I guess people could sue and stuff, if they actually got permission and got sick. So they not taking chances.

I think of it in the same way
as putting old furniture out
to be collected with regular trash.
If someone drives by and grabs it
I don’t think of it as stealing.

I think it’s a no because
of possible damages to
the business

I guess it depends if you actually put the items in the dumpster. I wouldn't count it as "putting it out". Not that i don't support dumpster diving, because i know some people gotta do it and some people want to do it. But i get why shops might not want it and i still think it's tecnically stealing, if it's within property.

Some grocery stores and whatnot are okay with turning a blind eye to it, try to find like some local face book group or smth for it and see if anyone is willing to share spots
