It happened to a friend of mine. And keep in mind his parents kicked him out. It took them awhile as they're super catholic but they came around. 

I think keeping your distance for now is a good idea. Focus on starting your own life for sure

Mom said a lot of homophobic slurs when I was growing up and stereotyped gay people and didnt like flamboyant gays cuz she thought they were flaunting being gay and putting on a show lol so in retrospect it's not a surprise 

Weirdly she set me up with a girl last year and apologized for judging my bisexuality... then she doubled down again after going hardcore fundie during a psychotic break 

Dont assume your parents wont accept you but dont expect them to either. You never know.
