I always thought it was due to me doing something wrong too
then I went to a different dentist and he was able to clean my teeth (you know, the pressure washing one to remove plaque) without a single drop of blood
so I figure it's also a lot down to how good your dentist is
(also, I once had a dentist who told me I should floss more - I can't floss because my teeth are too close to each other - and I said I was struggling, he should show me how to do it right. So he had to push the floss between my teeth using his body weight and ended up cutting my gums really deep in the process and then I was like: so how do I do this on my own?? and he just said: never mind, just keep doing how you do already, you do have good teeth, you can't floss with so small gaps either way. but the fact that you have them let you hurt you just to prove them you don't do it because you're lazy or stupid but because it's not possible...)
i wish that was me. But it was hard enough to find a dentist in this town :/
The gaps on my front teeth are really small too! I have a retainer so it really is a struggle. My dentist wants me to use those small brushes but the smallest size is still to big. I use super floss and tweezers now, still hurts like hell.
if it hurts too much or gets stuck or you hurt yourself more often than you manage, chances are the gaps are too small and it won't do any good
