how to sleep
Private

i literally dont know how to fall asleep anymore
i cant remember the last time i fell asleep in less than two hours??
nd its ruining everything cus i absolutely cant function without sleep like im not one of those people who can sleep three hours and survive through the day on coffee. i will literally collapse from exhaustion and weakness
nd im finally getting back at something called a life but its getting ruined when i cant sleep and theyre gonna kick me off the program if i cant ever meet up bc i cant fucking sleep
idk what to do?? im thinking of going to the doctor but what can the doctor do if i dont want sleep medication?
it doesnt matter how tired i am when i go to bed my mind is always
1. a television zapping through unimportant channels
2. a fly buzzing around my head

idk this is a rant i think im just so frustrated and its making me depressed. i have a whole week planned out and i fear i have to cancel everything cus im so tired

I think you can get valerian on a receipt at the doctor's place. I know you said no sleep medication, but valerian is a natural product that just makes you more tired without being actual sleep medication. If not, you can get it in most health stores and brew a tea yourself.

We also use hemp tea at home for a better sleep.

i havent heard of valerian but i will look into it ty! i do take melatonin and it used to help me sleep faster but now it just makes my body more calm, but my brain will still be active and keep me awake
i cant drink tea before bed, or even after dinner, or i will be up five times through the night to pee. i have an active bladder at night which is also a problem uh

Maybe you could try a higher dose of melatonin. Personally, I use 1 mg of melatonin in tandem with stress gummies. But if I have somewhere important to be the next day, I take 3 mg and that's usually enough to have me asleep in no more than 30 minutes.

What do you do before you go to sleep? Like, what activities? If you use your phone and have screen time before going to sleep, it might also help to get rid of the screen and start reading books instead or use your hands for knitting or something.

Oh sad No tea then.

Also, do you exercise regularly? That should also help you sleep (I've heard)

i try to end my night with reading, i know screen time bad but it happens yea
and no i dont exercise regularly or often at all. maybe thats part of the problem. people say you get energy from exercising, but just a 3km walk can sometimes drain me completely for the rest of the day. so i dont have a lot of motivation for exercising. but you know what i will go for a walk today while its still light outside

I think most people use their phone a little too much before bed, but reading is good!

I don't think you need to do 30 minutes in the gym to feel an effect if you don't do it regularly, so just adding a walk and creating small habits might be an enormous help at first.

i got perscribed allergy pills to help me fall asleep when melatonin did nohing for me, and that helped
idk if that qualifies as sleep medication to you but i specifically said i didnt want sleeping pills cause i had heard a lot abt the negative aspects of that n the addiction n stuff, n my doctor told me the allergy pills were a better option

I just got off a sort of sleep medication, as it was ruining that whole life thing I was trying to do. One thing that sometimes helps is putting on Carbonbased lifeforms. Its very relaxing and kinda makes my brain go wooo wavy sounds

Idk my brain won't sleep regardless, no effect from melatonin, allergy meds, quetiapine etc. But after a while of very much too little sleeping I start sleeping again, but falling asleep isthe hard part for sure yeah (even if I slept like 3 hours the night before) but I just have to be strategic and go to bed exactly when im tired, cus if I let the tired feeling pass ill never go to sleep

Actually its been way worse after I accidentally stopped taking magnesium cus I forgot abt it tho, so mby that helped with it. I see it helps some ppl just better sleep in general, thats not why I took it tho

I'm personally not a fan of taking medicine for something that happens often bcs it's a quick fix and helps but doesn't actually fix the real problem (but everyone to themselves ofc!)
But I can totally relate to your problem! For me it actually helped being out more during the day so I get more tired and get my energy off. And I also got an ereader which doesn't distract like a phone, you can turn off all the lights in your room and I can use darkmode and make the light very yellow so it's very easy on the eyes and that keeps my mind off things that would otherwise keep me awake. I do fall asleep with it sometimes but I don't really mind, at least I can usually fall asleep within 30-60 minutes now
