i can only talk about germany, but vegan/vegetarian alternatives usually have their own section, they are not beside or close to actual meat products, so its pretty easy to not mistakenly buy a vegetarian product. apart from  the fact that they always have a big V label on them etc.

in my locel edeka, theres the vegetarian/vegan section, then theres all kinds of dairy (pudding, yoghurt, milk, eventually cheese) and then at the literal other side of the store theres meat cold cuts

It's the same way here!
I'm not vegan but I'm curious about the name changes if they don't include meat on the label 
maybe sneak it in somewhere in the ingredients like, "chicken flavored seasonings"?

I think here the biggest thing would be meatballs which is like…. A vegetarian meat ball is distinctly different to me than a falafel type veggie ball
