I think that they are very important, but since it's very hard to get convicted for them (atleast where I live) I believe they might not be enough? On the other hand, maybe the liberals are right (lol). Maybe the existence of the debate, and everyones ability to call people out as idiots are a good climate for discussion. Yeah no, it's an interesting topic to discuss. From what I have gathered on VP, there's a huge difference between what Americans and Europeans in general put into the term freedom of speech, with Americans being a lot more "liberal".
Hmm yeah, makes sense! THe idea of the state interfering with things in gerenal and weather it's liked or not really seems to differ depending on a countrys history aswell. Weather a country has tried to have a state with more control and weather they failed or succeeded aswell...
