I did get one last year bc I got to the same point and had to. Just made sure to wear my mask.
The damage is so bad it tangles back up in a matter of minutes after getting all the knots out. 
I don't even use heat... It's just from brushing.

I normally get a haircut like once a year, but now it's been almost 19 months since I last got one. It's really annoying, because it tangles so easily, takes ages to untangle in the shower, and I lose quite a lot of hair in the process, which is not good...
