Well I mean you could just hang up.. but I see that it could be a problem.

well that's what I'm doing, like "bye" and then they're like "hang on"

Just tell them that you're not interested and that you're sorry, bring the phone away from you and hang up.
I know some people work in those jobs to like.. "survive", so they'll be super passionate about it but you need to live as well and got bills and.. life? so don't worry, if not you, someone else will answer them. trust me, my friend worked in that field and it just works like that.
I guess I will do that in the future. I always tell them in a firm voice that I'm not interested in anything but I just don't hang up until they let me. guess I will just work on that

Oh wow that sounds interesting!
OHh it really is! I just wish that this country won't collapse or anything but seeing as Israel just knows how to deal with the pandemic so perfectly.. oh well.

we'll see, but I'm sure as hell that I won't let it stop me from achieving my dream of being a historian, work in a real archive and restore ancient artifacts, and maybe even the main director of an archeology museum, gosh I'd die to work in a place like this.
How expensive is university in Israel?

I was actually very intrigued regarding history and archaeology as a child but I think my true call is most likely linguistics, I think it was right. I don't have any work experience tho.
Oh it can be very expensive... universities usually charge 40k NIS for one degree? a bit less or a bit more.
40k NIS is almost like 10k EUR,
But College? even more sadly.

I have a plan also as which uni I want to apply to, and this university has an archeological museum inside it so it's perfect! and it's also a much better city then the one that I'm currently living in, despite being the hottest place for young people.. I hate this place.

Shit what the fuck. My only expenses with regards to uni is the semester fee (less than 100e) and the books (about 300e pr semester) : )
So the student loan I whine about is for living expenses and not actually uni expenses.

You do get to split it in the number of years you do your degree but it's kind of still really bad, since you have to pay on time.
Also with Universities, in most of them, you have to have some crazy grades from high school to be accepted, just to begin with, so a lot of people here turn to colleges, and then wonder why they paid so much for something that'll give them a good job, but it's not, so... as you can imagine people might get good grades to finish a degree but they never progress at their jobs or even find a good one.

I also forgot to add before, that linguistics is also really interesting, I love languages, I learned 5 and I will sure try to learn some more, but it's not like History and Archeology for me so I can understand you.

Also, I was SUPER lucky and fortunate to volunteer at a museum and archive that my youth village that I've studied in had, so I have a few year of experience in this field

Yeah I think that this country could do a better job in this department.. but oh well.

and yes! I speak English, Russian, Hebrew, Spanish, and Japanese!
I also know bits and pieces from Arabic, Polish, Greek and Ladino.
thought about studying Norwegian as well, it looks really interesting to me and I once thought about studying in Norway so why not, If I'll manage to study even a bit I'll be glad!

And yes okay I am a hardworking person as I learned that if I won't really work to do what I dream to no one will really help me, but it was lucky that in the youth village that I've studied in they had a museum and an archive, but again I'm thankful that I did manage to get there and later on through connections managed to score some courses that made me a certified museum guide T-T
So happy that I've managed to achieve that.

I think Israel could improve on a lot of things. I don't know the detail but based on the general rankings of Israel on various things .. there is room for improvement certainly.

That's a very interesting combination of languages!!
I also know a few bits of Greek actually!!
Norwegian is .. well based on the languages you already speak Norwegian will be a challenge unless you are able to use your English skills as a bridge to understand basic underlying structures of Norwegian.

I don't know you but I'm proud of you, very admirable!

OH yesss.. there's room for improvement on MANY things, so many really that I won't stay here in the future because everything's so expensive and living here is a drag.

Yes this combination comes from my parents, my father is a Latin & Hispanic man, while my mom is Persian, Japanese, and also Azeri, her parents have a really interesting story.
ohhh I wish I knew more Greek, I loved visiting Greece and would LOVE to come back there again.

And I hope so too haha, I do feel like my knowledge in English will help me with this, but sometimes also Russian?
I got to hear some words that sound the same almost and well mean the same? I remember Jeg which means I, if I'm not mistaken, and in Russian, it sounds really similar, sounds like ya, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to learn at least some basic Norwegian.

And thank you! really warms my heart to hear so! I hope that you'll also work hard to achieve your dreams because at the end they'll be so worth it.

Yeah I'm icky about elaborating because the closest I've been to Israel is Bulgaria lmaoooooooo

I love that, so diverse. I've always been very fascinated with people who are so diverse culturally. Like, I can meet people and they're like yeah I'm Italian-Norwegian and I'm amazed, but then I remember that a person who was in my class back in secondary was beyond amazed when he remembered that I'm Finnish-Norwegian because it resulted in even more diversity among the students lmao.

I've never been to Greece, I would love to go but not during summer as heat makes me literally sick. I did learn some Greek because.. tragically, I had a crush on a Greek cunt.

Idk about Russian, I've been trying to do some Duolingo in Czech and honestly none of the language backgrounds I can look at helps at all. Like I've had Spanish, German, and Latin in school. I know Norwegian and English fairly well, I've done years and years of French on Duolingo. But nope. Finnish however?? Easier to me despite not being in the same language family at all.
A significant challenge with Norwegian which I will share right now is that, sure all languages have dialects, but Norwegian doesn't actually have a standardised way of speaking. If you learn strictly to speak the dialect (or a dialect) from the Oslo (or Urban East) area of Norway you might actually struggle to understand people from other places because yeah you have jeg which is the 1sg pronoun, I say "æ" (pronounced roughly like the vowel in the American English pronunciation of "can't" for that pronoun. I will never under any circumstance say anything other than that for that.

I'm reaaally shit on working hard. I work efficient lmao and then I'm like "pft this will do". It has worked.. ish .. so far.

Lol feel free anytime to elaborate about it to me, I sadly hate this country, but love the geographical place .
It's sad really, but what can I do when I grew up here and saw how this country really works and we'll living here will mean either be hardworking and lucky enough to land a job that'll actually give you a decent pay check, or live the rest of your life fighting for scraps.

And yes I also love diversity as I love different cultures and always so eager to learn more about people and groups, so amazing, how we can be so diverse, it's super interesting and so fun to discover more.

And thank you for your input, I'll try to remember that, I'll try to study Bokmal as I understood that this it the "main" written Norwegian that people use.
And yes it seemed to me as Norwegian is a bit different then other languages might be a challenge but sure a lot more fun since it's completely new.

I know that deep down if we're really super interested in something, and we'll have an opportunity that is related to our dream, we'll try to grab it.
I still believe in you, that you'll be able to work harder when needed. because sometimes really you should work more efficiently, and not just burn yourself at work.

Oof : (

The more you know about other cultures the less hostile you are towards them. I think one of the main reasons I don't fear other cultures is the divine experience of 2nd grade in elementary school when we were making food from the middle east for some reason and i was like oh yes this is the shit(tm) i've never forgotten it.

Yeah, I write bokmål as well. Or, it's my main written form of Norwegian. If you are interested you could always approach me about questions, given that Norwegian is my native language and my background in linguistics I think I'm qualified to explain things a bit beyond "it is like that because it just is" like most native speakers do.

I high key hope I will work harder when I'm starting to work on my master's thesis because sure I've come a long long way half-assing my way through things but it has to stop eventually.

Yes that's Israel.

Right! the more you discover about other cultures you'll feel more at ease with different people and you'll be more accepting and understanding in my opinion, at long as you're open to it of course.
and omg it sounds so cute hahahaha , middle eastern food is so gooddd I love it.

And how fun! I'll try to remember that as I'll progress and find some more books to help me!

I hope so as well for you and believe that when needed you'll be able to nail this.

i dont work in customer service, but a norwegian online shop that sells pokemon stuff (poku.no if anyone wanna know) have given me amazing customer service the last few times ive talked to them.

one time i got a tin box in the mail as a christmas present from my bestie, and it was damaged when it arrived. and since pokemon is a collectible, and possible to even sell empty cases later, i was kind of disappointed. i reached out to them, and they answered me late night on a saturday on fb message (so clearly some dedicated angel working around the clock), and he was gonna send me a new one free of charge. and he was gonna ask the postal service if they needed the damaged one as proof or whatever, but he never heard back from them, so now i have two <3 he even went through the items to send me exactly the one i wanted, as i think it was assorted items, so i wasnt guaranteed the one i got. and i really wanted that one.

and ive had nothing but happy experiences with them.
