thiss i went to gsm 2.0 too and hung around for a couple of years until i got tired and came back here now, it’s so toxic the rules are ass people are just so miserable there

I've actually heard more of the oposite about vp that it's much nicer than the other sites XD I haven't heard anyone saying VP is toxic in a long time?

Yeah I think that's the issue. I noticed you still have the "bug" where an outfit doesn't fully display on the preview doll bc it's weird with the layering. You know when you check the item and it links to the full set?

if you're used to gsm, maybe it's a different conversation! i think vp has a bad rep on es because of parrot being seen as bad and having come from here, as well as several notable banned designers from here who are poorly regarded because of past behaviour, so we're kind of seen as a lawless wasteland whenever i see us mentioned

yeah, i think that bug is mostly because of the Other layer being like... the very last layer which is so weird to me. as mentioned by others though we do have enbette at least which is exciting!!!

ahh I see. Yeah that makes sense. I haven't been active on ES since my mental health crisis and that was just like one year in to it I think. (seriously have no concept of time) At least I can read the name of the site without feeling like crying so that's nice XD
But I don't even see being there as an option for me. It's too sad.

Yeah i agree, things to keep people engaged
but i think at this point everything will come after the big update and it will take less time to implement!

i kinda speak from experience too like my initial fumbles as a mod here were a byproduct of previously modding on much stricter sites, thus learning to be kind of a bitch abt it sigh,,, vp feels like fresh air in comparison. i do still yell when i need to tho lol

I've been thinking so much about how to build a community that stays chill... like.. is any community just bound to fall into the same pattern as it grows? Is it even possible to have a big site that is still accepting of humans being humans? Cause' it feels like the rest of the big internet is also super harsh and unforgiving as a whole.

i mean yeah, more people equals more perspectives/mindsets that can clash... since humans are individuals, there will always be people who disagree with each other. we allow people to express different opinions here so long as there remains a relative calm to it from both sides of the conversation.

most real bad people are the types who don't correct their behavior despite being told off for it. we are pretty lenient before we raise the ban hammer, like you'll actually have to spew some vile shit to be kicked out without single warning

Yeah that's true. I don't know if it's just my algorithm or what but I've seen so much straight up bullying of people who are "weird" from tiktok. I don't even use tiktok XD so maybe my view of it is skewed. But it feels like people are really out to just pick someone apart. And like 9/10 times the person they choose is on the spectrum too. I've even started to be conspiratory like maybe it's the far right bot fleet or something hahaha.

I think communities like these are the best way to get respite from it tho.

Yep that's me, we're usually posting updates in this thread. The progress is pretty slow rn (hard to remake the foundation of a >12 year old website, + it's generally very busy time of year for me), it should be much faster once we drop the first parts of the redesign update
