I can only speak for the teams I'm in whose have hosted applications (which is BT and NT) and we all read through all the applications and then we all vote and the people with the most votes goes through to the next round/join the team. Though there are some things like general behavior from the applicant and other stuff that is taken under consideration during the voting. But yeah, this is only for the teams I'm in so I'm not defending any other team because I have no clue how they do it.

Same approach in DT, but we often take into account other designs by the person as well

People go hard about teams getting codes so, what if all teams forfeited getting them?
As for the old argument, teams should get some compensation yada yada cause they volunteer, the monthly team contribution from Kaj should be sufficient enough.

No need for anyone to view teams/members as "entitled" when we equally receive NOTHING.

If this were to go into effect, I do expect those who are critical of teams to apply in droves.
