"She would sometimes call me her starlight," saying the nickname out loud made her heart ache, it had been a year since she had last heard that out loud.

Connor had seen red instantly at the way this sack of walking death had referred to his kids. Only an idiot would chose to push a territorial werewolf, especially when the woman he had imprinted on was carrying his kids. Ripping apart large chunks of Trents neck he only stopped when the sweet scent of lemonade and lavender met his nose and Gabbie's hand was running through his fur. Bowing his head momentarily he practically purred at the feeling of her fingers and words of praise before he moved out from under her and shifted back into his human form. Wiping his mouth clean on the sleeve of his jacket he had now well and truly ruined the white suit, "That fucking vampire is ballsy coming into our territory on a full moon." offering his hand out to Gabbie he helped her back up right before sliding his phone out of his pocket and texting D, just killed a vampire eight minutes away from your home. there was another with him but he fled before I could get him. Send some grunt to clean the body up, I need to get Gabbie off the streets.

Slipping his phone out of his pocket he froze at the words he said, a small growl forming in his throat he lifted his head, “party over.” He announced and just like that, the music ended, people silenced and everyone was diverting away from his home. “Roman, Colton, I need you both.” He called and within seconds they were by his sides. “Connor has just had to kill a vampire. One is still loose. I need you to guard the area for tonight,” and with that he took his companions hand and headed inside.

Gabbie was tremoring with fear but she knew she would be safe with Connor by her side and at least this man was dead now. This blood sucker wasn’t going to get to her or her twins while he was around, and his accomplice had long fled by the sounds of it. She leaned up and hugged him tight for that bit of warmth and comfort that she was craving right now. Taking his hand she tugged herself back up, rubbing her bump as she did so. “He wasn’t ever going to get away with a trick like that. I just hope whoever he was with takes the fucking hint too.” She scowled, trying to calm her nerves as they slowly carried on their journey back to home. Speeding up her waddle just a little bit more, wanting to be in the secure four walls of their home.

Connor realised that that was possibly the first time he had ever killed in front of his wife and it wasn't a clean one either, he had enjoyed ripping that mans neck to tiny pieces. Yet Gabbie hadn't ran, hadn't turned away. She had approached him while he was still attacking and helped him come back into his own mind. Gripping onto her hand tightly, but not enough to hurt her they started walking towards their home. Connor was now on edge, his senses picking up every little sound and smell that came his way. There was a human party a few blocks along and he could identify the cheap liquor they were drinking. "So do I," he finally replied, realising he had let silence fall between them from how much he was focusing. "I don't know how much experience you have with vampires, or what you've been taught about them.. but they are the some of the worst species to roam this city. Nothing like the romantic bullshit you see in the movies, they are motivated by their blood lust but also their greed for money. Which is why many work as hitmen."

Colton and roman are on patrol. He told him. The house was a tip but that was the last thing on his mind and he and shifted straight into his alpha role.

Gabbie could see he was beating himself up about something and this time it wasn’t her place to disturb it, he needed to figure this out in his own head and she didn’t even know where to begin, she was like.. nothing in the food chain of species. “In our world it goes reminds, werewolves and then vampires.. so yeah, I know how scary they’re supposed to be.” She nodded her head. Considering she was part demon and her soul mate was a werewolf? It showed him just how scary they were to her. As soon as they were at their house she slipped through the front door and then when it was close she out the latch and the bolt on and double checked the lock twice, just to make sure.

Connor only nodded his head, lost in thought at this point and he didn't stop to check his phone until the pair of them were inside their home. Counting the click from the door and the sound of the bolt he unbuttoned the top few buttons of his white shirt as he tugged the phone out of his pocket to read his brothers text, We are home, didn't pick up the scent again. That fucker knew us, you and I as well as Gabs. This is more than just a few drifters. Tossing the phone onto the sofa once the message had scent he undid the now shattered fake wings and tossed them to the side, removing the suit jacket along with the shirt itself and going into the kitchen to shove them into the washing machine before adding the trousers as well. Standing in his boxers he pressed his body against the cool kitchen counter as he let his thoughts race. "I'm sorry you had to see me like that," he finally said as Gabbie entered the kitchen to track down her husband, "you were able to show mercy to so many that have wronged you and now you've seen me for what I truly am."

Gabbie shrugged off her jacket. She was takin her time, letting her husband compose himself because tough she knew he would never harm her, he had a hot temper which he needed to boil down from. Holding onto the banister of the stairs she toed off her shoes and finally the cool laminate flooring touched her feet and it felt like actual heaven and the noise that escaped her mouth, well, some might have said it was a little inappropriate. Padding into the kitchen she paused as she saw him and a small smile graced her lips. There he was.. her husband, the love of her life. She would never get over his perfection. Heading over to him she rested her hands against his hips, her nails gently dragging against his skin, “and so what if you did? I fucking love who you are, Connor, and I am so proud of you.” She reassured him.

What she was saying didn't make sense, but perhaps that was due to how much the pair of them had grown together as a couple. "You weren't scared of me.." more a statement than a question and he wrapped his arm around her pulling her against him as he embraced. Taking a long breath in so that his senses were filled with her delicious scent mixed with the precious smell of the twins. "Im so lucky to have found you Gabbie, I love you so so much."

He’d very territorial at the moment.” He chuckled, pressing his lips to the side of her head he nodded in agreement. “I’ll call a tribe meeting in the morning so we can all discuss anything, and figure out if Colton and roman have caught sight of anything either.” He added.

Gabbie shook her head at him, a confidence that she had grown because of him clear in her stride. “I could never be scared of you, Connor,” she told him. Letting her arms wrap around his neck she angled herself so that she could get as close to him as possible, pressing her bump to him so that he could feel that deep connection that he had already grown with their twins and it was just like they knew daddy was there and they began to shuffle around in her. “I love you too, wolfie. More than you could ever imagine. I don’t know what I’d do if I had never found you.” She admitted, leaning her head against his chest, leaning up on her tip toes.

Connor let what his wife was saying swim around his head, easing away the frustration he had created for himself and a smile took its place on his face. Even if he stood by his actions regardless it was good knowing he hadn't scared his own wife off. "I will do anything to protect our family Gabbie, never forget that." He let his fingers run through her hair, pushing it behind her ear but he let his hand linger as he kissed her forehead several times. The feeling of her belly against him made everything in his own body ease, his free hand resting there to feel the twins response to his touch. "You would have been ogling me from your bedroom window for the rest of summer," he teased.

But they are a lot more present during the winter, the darkness of the days spurs them on.” He explained.

Gabbie nodded her head, “I know you will. And I will do the same, this is my dream, this is what I’ve always wanted and I’m letting nothing and no one get in the way of that.” She relaxed into his gentle touch against her hair and his soft lips. For such a large man who could cause so much chaos his touch was so soft against her lips. It amazed her every time. They stood there in silence for a little while, both of them zoning in on the movements of their babies which made her smile from ear to ear. Pregnancy had been tough but she wouldn’t have changed it for the world. “Hey! I mean you’re right but that makes me sound like a total creep.” She giggled, hitting his chest playfully even though he would barely feel it.

Gabbie had this strong will that no one could break, when she was set on something kt would happen and even though she wasnt a werewolf it was a quality Connor believed hinted towards her having some traits that related to his species. It was also one of the many, many things he loved about her. "I know." Was all he said before a cheeky grin appeared, "You were but I wasn't any better, its a blessing your brother didn't try and take me out sooner for the way I admired you."

Gabbie couldn’t hide the fact that she was blushing now so instead she just hit her husbands chest again before burying her face against it, wrapping his arms around him, her nails gently tracing up and down his spine which she knew was his tickle spot. “I don’t think he’d have stood a chance against you, do you?” She laughed a little, tipping her head back so that she could gaze up at him, grinning. I still can’t believe we literally spent so much time living next to each other and we didn’t even know. A brick wall really is stronger than love?” She raised her eyebrows, a little yawn escaping from her mouth.

It felt like nothing more than a tickle against his skin. A low growl escaped as her nails tickled against his sensitive spot, "cheeky." he purred against her ear. Even if her laugh was light hearted he didn't want to confirm just how easily he could rip her brother to shreds because at the end of the day Gabbie had spared him so maybe he should too. "A brick wall and your strict family. I had begged my father to invite your family over so many times but he was terrified or your mum." He admitted.

Gabbie was glad when she felt that last bit of tension roll away and she knew her husband had finally calmed down which was exactly what they both needed cause the doctor had told her so ma y time now important it was to stay calm and keep her blood pressure down and to fight had been a night of way too much excitement. From a tribe of wolves running around to a vampire attacking them? She needed a lie down in a dark room for a little while. “I think my mom scared everyone at one point, and I’m not surprised. She used to be so strict.. she kept me away from so much, its actually scary to even think about it. All those years I was trying to be something that was impossible.” She suddenly smirked at him. “And I thought you wolves weren’t scared of anything!” She teased.

" turning back around to meet his gaze, "scared of not being a good mum." She shrugged her shoulders loosely, "but we have a lifetime together and I just want to enjoy life with you. When the time is right it'll happen."

Connor let his fingers caress her sides in a gentle massage as she spoke, a cheeky smile appearing on his lips, "Only the heartless ones have no fear and the ones who haven't found love," he admitted. "My fears centre around anything happening to you, but before that I was fearless." he said mockingly before shifting off of the kitchen counter. "Lets get you upstairs, you've been on your feet too long today but I'm sure a foot rub will help that, hmm?" the smile on her face confirmed his suspicions and he took his wife's hand as they headed up to their bedroom. Pulling the door shut behind them he helped undo the zipper of her halloween costume before going over to find a pair of joggers to pull on for the night. Tomorrow was no doubt going to involve a tribe meeting and Connor and Gabbie would need to give a full account of what happened to them on their way home.
