gsm coming back?

Can someone please explain to me why GSM should "remain dead" when all of ya'll are literally on a site that was created as a copy of GSM...or at least it's very VERY similar to it. I'm so confused. How is it any different? How is GSM so much worse than VP? I genuinely want to know. Help

Not worse, but that site is much older, and much outdated and anyone that would go back there will go for any type of nostalgia they have from it, but when that is over or sated well, then what? how will an outdated site bring any new people?
vp is a perfect example of why it's a bad idea if you're saying they're the same because vp is a step away from a tumbleweed rolling in the desert

god I'm too tired to think about more I'll get back to ya tomorrow please thanks goodbye good night

How is it more outdated than VP? And so what if it dies out again because they can't bring in tons of new users? Maybe I'm not taking it as serious but even if it launches and then disappears again, I would be happy to have gotten the chance to revisit it. They might also be planning on changing it or making it better or more modern...that might attract new users as well as the old ones if they keep some of the charm. An international server instead of multiple different language servers might also benefit them. We really don't know unless they do it. Time will show I guess. I just don't see "why not" you know...why does it have to stay dead

Oh no it doesn't have to, I even stated at the end of what I wrote before that I wanna see em try
it more so that there are more cons to pros and why it might be better for it to be dead
it's not a why not
it's why it'll be a pain in the ass maybe not a profitable thing, and if it's a company buying it... let's be real this is not a passion project this is a money thing

if it's actually bought by that group of overly excited folk that just want it back, hell
if they know anything about managing and running a site, code, and all that good stuff, that's great, but if not like... it takes more than goodwill to run things, what about the designs? do they have the rights to them? are they even still there? if not, what about designers? what about the games from the past? they're all outdated and flash is a bitch, so many and maybe too many technical issues that might pop up,
It might be easy or not really after, and if they will try learning but if not, or not properly, they'll just run it into the ground and if I was a fan I'd rather it stay dead than ppl attempt to revive it and fail.

The fact they are trying to revive a site that's long gone since 2016 and its activity will mostly rely on the older user base to come back... it's just really blind optimism.
As we can see on vp, we barely have any ppl that stay here for long enough and unless you're from around those times, almost nothing will compel anyone to go to an old site like GSM the same way we see that vp gets barely any new users.

Why ES is doing better though? it's actually modern, has a very young userbase, everything there is very updated, and while I in no way praise that shit ass site and its management and owners, they do some things better and this is why they are very much active, and thriving(in toxic waste that is, but thriving).

It's okay to hope but chances are, even if it WILL come back it'll either be a very short revival, or the site will remain functioning for a while and die since there would be no new members or threads, I can imagine that people will try reconnecting, talk about the nostalgia, let it be the drama, wardrobe or anything specific, and then what? it'll be a husk of its past days.

me? a pessimist? how did you know...
HOWEVER, as I like ambitious people I would like to see them try and can only hope it won't die too quickly,
and see how they navigate this... "passion project"
Where do you get the idea that fans bought it? From my understanding it's still the same company that's trying to revive it (if that's actually the goal here...they haven't really said much)

I would like to also understand where you got the impression that not just a company but the same company trying to revive it? genuine question btw sorry in advance if it sounds snarky or idk
her comment was just bashing the people who got invested enought to make a fb messenger group about the "event". not the people who actually are doing this campaign

Fair enough.  I just think it's a little early to weigh the pros and cons since we really don't know what they're planning yet exactly or how it will turn out. At this point we can only assume things...based on old memories of the site. I also don't care that much about whether it will be profitable...not really a "user" problem and more of a "company" problem. It will only be a pain in the ass for the company if it doesn't turn out good. Unless of course someone is going into it thinking it will stay forever and then getting devastated when it suddenly disappears again. But yeah...I will be surprised if they're spending time, money and effort on possibly relaunching an old website without any plans of future development of the platform.

And yeah it probably is about money for them...in the end they are a business who needs to pay their employees. I think Momio is slowly dying so it would make sense that they're trying something else or at least testing the waters.

god i had to log into my oldest email account to look for something
and I found just tons of emails between me and the cosmo gsm admin sorting out all sorts of anonymous drama and rogue mods and hacking

once upon a time when mod club screenshots leaked out

i really was in it deep lol
that was over a decade ago

if it does come back I'll play - but I will never be this involved again lmfao
