maxwells thread was interpreted as breaking the rules because there are several references in the rules and T&C that messages of sexual nature are not allowed (or variations of that). Not everyone knew riksen referred to the hospital either, so instead of being interpreted as a complaint about the medical system it was interpreted as a thread about sex
it might be that we havent been able to strongly determine whether it was a mistake because it is based upon interpretation and the judgement of new moderators, who were following the outdated rules of vp
okay so it is because some people thought it was a rule break even after discussion (if you as a team havent been able to strongly determine it even after it was cleared up what riksen was or it was put into question by the community).
Since that is the case I want it to be said and for the team to know that the inability to determine it as mistake (especially after the community chimed in and agreed that it didnt make sense) is an issue, and that those who believe that, in my opinion, potentially lacks the critical analysis skills to make calls on those sort of situations. I know that sounds super mean, but i seriously cannot comprehend how that thread can be interperated as
a thread discussing sexual content, which is wht the rules do not permit. And i hope that the parts of the team who did do that put in serious effort into working on that if theyre foing to be a part
It was already mentioned that locking it was a mistake, so yes, we did own up to it. We understand your frustration, and we hear you, truly. Because of this, we've had discussions about the subject all day, both through voice chat and in text, about how we can avoid situations like this in the future, and I feel that we've come to some good conclusions.
As was already mentioned, the rules are going to change for subjects like these, as we believe almost everyone is 18+ and we want that to be our demographic. This will take some time, though, so I ask you to be patient ^^
Since we are new to working together as a team, and I personally don't have experience running a Bootcamp or training new moderators, it can sometimes happen that a mistake is made, for which I will take full responsibility. I do want to say that I appreciate your feedback and promise that we take it seriously and will continue to ask for it, and discuss things you all bring up.
i understand the need to keep explaining things, but since it has already been established that, im glad you have discussed it, the rule change in regards to this specifically is not really relevant, the way i will view the mod team going forward is going to be colored by how long it took and the amount of discussion it took for the team to see that it wasn't a rule break (if that even has happened yet for some of them), until it is proven that the team is more adequately able to interperate the threads they make calls on, and take better responsibility for the bad calls they make.
