(yeah, but i think you should change her backstory a bit because the infection started over forty years ago so her age wouldn't fit the backstory if she hurt her eye at the start of the apocalypse)

I woke up to Max' wet nose sniffing in my face, eagerly waiting for me to give him some food. I grinned, and try to sit up straight in the old car-seat. We had been lucky enough to find an old wreck standing on the road yesterday. It wasnt the safest way to sleep, but safer than sleeping with no roof. 

I grabbed my backpack and opened it. A bottle of water, a moldy piece of bread, and leftover squirrel. I took a look at Max, drooling over the squirrel. 

"Alright. But we gotta share the last piece, alright?" I said, and teared the squirrel in two. Max ate his piece so fast that I was afraid he'd choke. 

I looked out the windows of the car, and stared at a building that stood close. I had heard voices coming from it, so I had to be careful. Could be raiders, or even worse. Them.
