I just eat healthy. If I ever use something, I use coconut oil on rare occasions in my hair as a 'mask' if its really dry, which it rarely is after I went no-poo. The only cases I get pimples is during menstruation, and thats due to hormones. Adding external stuff on my skin isn't going to do much different, so might as well just accept reality. I'll survive.
I think when it comes to hair health, there is a common misconception how 'healthy' hair should be. Its paradoxical when people have to put tonnes of conditioner, hair masks, serums and oils in their hair to keep it healthy, because they keep destroying with hair dye, extreme heat and styling products. Its a never ending circle, and in the end its like fixing a broken leg with a bandaid - a broken leg, however, that you keep smashing with a hammer each time it tries to heal.
Healthy hair is supposed to be a tiny bit greasy. Don't wash it constantly, as the oil is the scalps natural attempt to keep it protected and healthy. It makes absolutely no sense to me that people wash their hair with shampoo that strips it of all its natural oils, only to apply artificial moisture and oil afterwards to patch up on the harm the shampoo did. I use regular soap bars (also better for the environment - less plastic) and vinegar as conditioner, and only once a week. You can do with even less, less frequent, if you "train" your hair to it.
