So u can't love yourself if you go to the gym, pluck your eyebrows, cut and/or color your hair etc in your eyes
i think someone else brought this up too. i think 'go to the gym if you want your dream body' is a different message to send than 'get plastic surgery if you want your dream body'
But why do u think that, why is getting plastic surgery any different than going to the gym if getting the dream body is your goal. Why can you preach self love if you did it through the gym but not through plastic surgery when the outcome is the same
if in your eyes they're the same thing, then it's no use convincing each other bc to me it's not the same

might be seen as the "lazy way out"
though I don't think we really are allowed to judge based on that
Yeah seems like op is just judging plastic surgery because "plastic surgery is bad owo" but oh well
i don't think plastic surgery is bad, but it's not empowering

Ok so its pretty much the same thing idk
Those with body dysmorphia have a distorted view of how they look, while those with gender dysphoria suffer no distortion. They have feelings of anxiety and depression, as they truly know who they are on the inside, despite this not fitting with their biological sex.
yeah pretty much, but it’s different from person to person
I don't like the seemingly obligatory depression and anxiety feeling because it's like.. not everyone

it definitely doesn’t have to be. that’s mainly why i said it. not every experience is gonna be a splitting image of what someone else has done through. everyone experiences and sees things differently.
yea

i don't think it's the same as exercising, cutting your hair, shaving etc. the difference for me is the risks. the version of body positivity I believe in isn't that every part of you is beautiful, that ugly noses are pretty, it's that its okay to be ugly, that you still deserve respect as a person and you don't need to risk your health in a major way to be pretty.

but i think it's interesting where a lot of people draw the line. in the western world it's considered self hating for a dark skinned person to bleach their skin, or for a black person to perm their hair. its ok to build a body, though.
