and then in like sophomore year of high school one time i was drawing an anime cat girl (NOT A FURRY- A NEKOMIMI) kissing a boy and i had to go explain to the principal that i was not drawing porn, and i don't know who told you i was drwaing porn, but i think my catgirl drawing is tame.

yeah, I love when people don't want to keep up with something because it seems so repugnant to them
I mean, the reason why there are so many porn mangas is just, because there are practically no boundaries, which the japanese understood
and then the rest of the world doesn't understand, that it was done out of a need and not because it was their culture to flaunt around reading nothing but porn

It's so weird how much value people put on a penis. I would like batman's penis to be sort of chubby and short. Just to give a big fuck you to all the people who would freak out XD bc I KNOW people would freak out. (especially the men)

yea yea cartoons and comics like have this wierd history of being like for adults and then the american government was going to step in and censor comics so comic makers made something called the Comics Code that like censored and made moral all comics to stop the government from censoring them they censored themselves and it was only for kids at that point until like the 80s

but its like especially shocking to see an adult cartoon from DISNEY because it's DISNEY lmao

last night i had to explain to doug what a 'tijuana bible' is that was fun.

what is interesting also is japanese laws about pornography mean you cannot show genitalia and i think thats why they got so weird with it because they cant show genitals but they can show you an octopus. like they ahve some of the strictest sort of censorship laws but like... porn finds a way i guess?

well female nudes are often presented for the 'male gaze' (at the risk of getting shouted down over using the word male, 'male gaze' is a common term that we use in art history discussions). i do think in this case it probably isn't being presented for anyone in like....

i mean it's not sexy it's just there it really does look like something i might have done in a figure drawing class. 
but then this was Doug's initial assumption, that the presence of the penis was meant for a sexual sort of gaze.

I think that's a bit what is wrong with society today (not meaning to blame or shame Doug here)
thinking that because we see genitalia always means sex in some way
nudity is actually one of the strongest way (imo) to show vulnerability
and like I said, we're not talking 'bout Ken here


(as for the nude's part, didn't know they were meant to be seen like that, I always thought it was more of a "hey look, a naked human body, but it's art and it's tasteful, so we can just claim it's beautiful without having someone shout perv at our face";)
