Procrastination
Procrastination is the act of putting something off, or delaying it. It's quite an easy habit to slip into and one that's super hard to get out of. Procrastination is something almost everyone does, some more than others. Today, I'm going to give you some tips on how to get out of the habit of procrastinating so you don't procrastinate life away!
Figure out why you're procrastinating and try to figure out a way to solve the problem. If you can figure out the reason you're procrastinating, it's only a small jump towards fixing the issue and to stop procrastinating. If you're procrastinating because the task you have to do is generally boring, then figure out a way to make it more fun! If you're procrastinating because you have no effort, do something that will give you motivation and effort whether it be taking a run or something else.
Keep a to-do list with deadlines. That way, you know what you need to do in what time. Also, you can't make the excuse that you conveniently "forgot" the task or "didn't know it was due." Also, make the task fit your priorities and depending on what you are most likely going to procrastinate
Break your tasks into small, more manageable tasks. Sometimes having to do a huge task can be overwhelming, so start simple. Schedule your to-do list so you start off which whatever small tasks you can, and once you get the feeling of motivation gradually move towards your bigger tasks.
Eliminate the temptation to do something else. If you're computer is distracting you and making you procrastinate, then turn it off and give it to someone else to hold for a bit. Getting rid of the distractions can be helpful.
Reward yourself. Give yourself the idea that if you finish a certain task or set of tasks, you can get rewarded in some way. Rewards are always fun and something to look forward to, and you're more likely to finish your task.
Tell people of your tasks. This way, people may ask you about it and whether you completed it, you feel pressure. Hough pressure isn't always a good thing, having people motivate you and remind you is much better than procrastinating.
Get people to help you with your tasks. Some things are more fun with more than one person and can get done easier. Whether it be they actually help you on your task or help get rid of a distraction, it can be easier for people.
