Winter wonderland! (by Private)

WANT TO SEE THE FINAL PRODUCT OF ALL THREE NAIL DESIGNS TOGETHER? CLICK HERE!
My recommendation for all of these nail tutorials is to mix them up, don't do all your nails in one design! For all of these designs, they are being done on a practice nail wheel and all designs/picture were done by me..if you're wondering.

Let's begin!

For this first tutorial, you are going to need a red and white nail polish, as well as a dark blue glitter polish and nail brush. If you don't have a nail brush, a good substitute is a toothpick, which might take a bit more time. Start by painting your nails with a clear base coat to protect from staining your nails, and then paint your nails white.

Once your nails are white and have dried for atleast two minutes, put some red polish on a piece of paper, and take your brush or toothpick and dip it into the red polish, begin drawing onto your white nail as shown below. I made a "Z" and then added an extra line to fill in some more space. We're almost done!

After this is done, allow your nails to dry a bit and then apply your glitter top coat. It doesn't have to be blue, but I suggest it for a nice winter look. The one I am using is by China Glaze in bling it on. Seal it all in with a top coat to protect from chipping. That's it, you're done! I've noticed how this design gives a lovely candy cane feel, but the blue glitter also reminds me of the American flag and snow fall!
Now for this nail design, you will need a dark blue nail polish, a white striper, and optional are rhinestones. If you don't have rhinestones, simply take a toothpick and the color of your choice. I am also using dotting tools, but once again, a toothpick works just fine. A striper is just a thin brush, if you don't have one it's really easy to make and is SO useful. Click here to watch a video on it.

First, I am starting by painting my nails a Dark blue. The one I am using is absolutely gorgeous and it's by Mabelline Color show in Navy narcissist.

Once you allow that to dry a bit, take your white striper and make lines that cross over each other in the center, like shown below.

After you do that, it's up to you as far as how many of these cute little snow flakes you want to create. Then, take a rhinestone or the same dark blue polish you used, and put a dot in the center of each snowflake. and because I have to go over the top, I added little tiny dots of white to complete the look. That's it, you're done!
For this last design you will need a white, black and green polish. The red, gold and silver polishes will be the lights on my tree, so you can choose any three colors YOU like and use them as your tree lights. I am also using an angled brush so I can draw and fill in my tree, but a toothpick is fine - It will just be a little bit harder to get clean edges..BUT don't worry because we fix that in the end! Let's get started.

Start by painting your nails white. Allow that to dry for a few minutes since we will be sketching onto our nails in a second. Once they dry, draw your outline of the tree on your nail with the green polish. It doesn't have to be perfect!

Once your outline is drawn, fill in the tree with green polish so it actually looks like a tree. Now it's time to add more depth and clean up those messy lines. Take your striper (told you that it'd be useful) and dip it in black nail polish. Do NOT put too much on the brush, your brush shouldn't be dripping black polish. Trace your tree with the black, this will smooth the edges out and hide any mess ups. Then make some black lines in your tree, to represent the layers in it.

Now let that dry for 5 minutes and take your three colors of choice and place dots of it randomly in your tree. What I did to top my tree was use a rhinestone, but once again if you don't have any just choose any color and place a dot of it at the top of your tree. You're done!
Everything is better when it's homemade, so let's make some hot chocolate that doesn't come in powder form! I did not go on google to find this recipe, I just bought what I thought I would need and got in the kitchen. This recipe serves about one or two depending on how you fill your cup. You will need:
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk
  • 3-4 tbs of Chocolate chips
  • Sugar (if needed)
  • Optional: Cinnamon, or various toppings

First, bring 1 and a half cups of milk to a boil, and then lower to a medium heat. Next, add in your chocolate chips. If you're using milk chocolate it certainly won't need sugar, but taste and if needed add sugar to your liking. Stir it in until it melts, and you're pretty much done. Of course you can top it with whatever you please, but I like to go straight for the hot chocolate and forget the extras. 4 tbs of the Milk chocolate makes a VERY rich cup of hot chocolate (in my opinion). I'm not a big chocolate fan and that was a bit too much for me, so my tip is to start with 2 and add if needed. It all depends on your taste, just let me know how it turns out! Happy holidays!

Not a big fan of hot chocolate, but I'll try out the recipe with friends/family/fiance.

Thanks and have a great holiday season!

and you still have to nag .  . bruh

She's not nagging at all sad Doing a nail design on a nail wheel like I did is a lot easier for most people than it would be doing it on their actual nail, which is what I'm sure she meant. She said she likes it and just gave her preference, I'm always happy to have critique, especially as someone who loves to write.

Oooh ok, I wasn't sure if you meant that it couldn't be done at all since it was on that nail wheel. I understand now, ignore my idiocracy today :p

It can be done on actual nails and I would've done it on mine, but at the time I had just painted my nails for Thanksgiving. I hope I don't confuse anyone by using that because it's not required, It was only used to show you the design..if that makes sense? Or in super simple words, it's the same exact thing as me doing it on my hand, except it's not on my hand haha. :)

This is the hardest I've ever worked on an article, I was so excited to finally do some nails. I got most of this done 3 weeks before it even had to be released #toexcited. But anywho, I hope you guys like it! It's definitely something a bit different from me. (l)

TELL ME YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN! :d Even if you hate them all.
