As Tumblr came to be, cats seemed to become the mascot for internet-loving teenagers. These death-plotting felines have been making news lately because quite frankly they have taken over a Japanese island. Aoshima Island is tiny with no shopping and no cars. The only transportation is a ferry and is currently carrying 34 tourist on a daily basis. The small island had never seen tourist before until news of the 120 cats had made news. The cats outnumber the human population six to one. There's only a population of 22 so it's almost literally an island just for the cats. The cats were first brought to the island to help control a mouse problem that got in fisherman's way but because they weren't neutered, they got busy! Now cat-lovers everywhere are fleeing to Aoshima to see this cat army.
Seventeen years ago, the residents in Talkeetna, Alaska wasn't fond of their candidates who were running for mayor. During the election, Lauri Stec, a resident of the small down, adopted a tail-less cat whom she named Stubbs and soon enough, the whole town was in love with the cat. They loved the cat so much that instead of voting for the two candidates they didn't like for mayor, they wrote in Stubbs name instead. He won by a land slide and as been watching over the population of 800 ever since. The new mayor brought tourists to the small town which helped boost the small town's economy and the residents were happy because unlike the humans, Stubbs didn't raise any taxes or interfere with business. He might not have the answers to all the political problems, but he's pretty darn cute!
